Mui Ne sojourn.
My recent trip to Viet Nam included a four day stay at Mui Ne, a 20 klm long strip of beachside hotels and mid-range resorts, where the far- reaching effects of Covid has left the entire area almost bereft of tourists, ie deserted; the main reason I was the sole resident at Thai Hoa Resort`s 57 cabin facility! Early morning walks found me wandering along adjacent beaches photographing the daily rituals of local fisherfolk as they set, then hauled in their long nets with fantastic sunrises as a backdrop. As a tribute to those magical experiences, I was stimulated to jot down this spontaneous poem. { I`m still a rhyming devotee and need to inform readers that the place, Mui Ne is pronounced Mooey Nay in Vietnamese.} Xianh Chao- Wayne Brown
MUI NE SUNRISE
Pale salmon pinks and lavender, suffuse the breaking day
As another sunrise brings to light, beach life at Mui Ne
Net fisherfolk and beachcombers, may share this wondrous place
Away from earthly challenges, eclipsing time and space
To gaze enthralled as nets are set, the hoped for catch to snare
For `tis a daily ritual, which must be planned with care
Floats and leads then dragged ashore, strong arms and backs in motion
Each morning`s chance to fill the nets, just reward from the ocean
Bright sunlight glints across the sea, I truly stand in awe
As these hardy local fisherfolk, trust to the sea once more
