A QUESTION ONCE ASKED © John R. Nolan 10/1/2021

A question once asked, echo deep into night,
Returning in visions, at the speed on no light;
Zwastical rainbows now shatter a void,
Floating obliquely, anchored inside.

Ask any questions, expect only lies,
Have a fake ‘burger, “Will that be with fries?”
“Is that to eat here, or take it away,
With onions and beetroot, but how will you pay?”

“No, we don’t take cheques, as they mostly bounce,
We don’t accept cash, they’re not worth an ounce,
Of political promises, religious lies,
Check your history, it tells why we cry.”
Void, empty holes, hollows.
Caverns, blast,
Filled with rock music,
Eighth noted past,
Squealing, loud tyres,
Raging fires,
Funeral pyres,
Cosmic choirs.
Bell-birds ring,
Announcing tucker time,
Dyslectic signs,
Raging fires,
Nobody cares,
Wild tempers flare,
All in the name of peace!
Through windows that rattle,
Snowflakes freeze Jumbo,
Ears of curiosity,
Ears of spies,
No where’s or whys,
While plastic popes,
Washing machines,
Clean up
On the stock exchange!

An assembly line of thoughts,
What does sleep look like?
Inside the thoughts,
Of one’s mind.
Asked a passing stranger,
“Who was that stranger?”,
Asked Elimbech,
As he drew pictures,
Of words,
Tumbling slowly,
Down oral land slides,
Shattering to minute,
Mental parameters,
Crazy pictures,
“What benefit could that be?
To me?
Such a collection of thoughts?”
Stumbling across tech numbered rainbows,
Fantasize multi coloured white,
No light,
Echoes ringing distantly,
Jangling, soundless waves,
Smashing sound barriers,
Word barriers,
Dripping,
From broken pipes.
